Iloilo City celebrates its 85th Charter Anniversary celebration this August 25, 2022.
The Local Government Unit under the leadership of Mayor Jerry Trenas, in cooperation with the private business organizations of Iloilo, various activities were lined up in commemoration of the special non-working holiday in Iloilo City.
Mr. Victor Rodriquez, Executive Secretary of the Office of the President with Proclamation No. 35 last August 8, declaring August 25 as a special non-working day for Iloilo City.
Here are some fun ways to celebrate the event:
1. CHARTER RUN
A fun run was held last August 21 organized by the office of Iloilo City Counselor Johny Young in cooperation with SM City Iloilo in celebration of Iloilo City Charter Week.

The Charter Run event started at Iloilo Grand Stand and finished at SM City Southpoint. The run has 2 categories: 8km and 5km.
Winners for the 8k run were awarded gift cheques from SM City Iloilo ranging from 1000 to 2500 worth of GCs.
While winners for the 5k run were awarded gift cheques from 500 to 1500 worth of GCs. Some of the early finishers were given free t-shirts.
2. ILOILO BUSINESS EXPO (ILOBEX)
Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry - Iloilo Chapter, Inc. (PCCI) has been actively preparing for the Iloilo Business Expo (ILOBEX) gathering a huge number of SMMEs to showcase different kinds of local and other specially curated products.
ILOBEX is dubbed as the "biggest trade fair in the metro", is set to open at SM City Iloilo North Wing Lower Ground Floor, at 3pm, August 24. They also have another set of participating merchants in Festive Mall on the same day.
"Iloilo City is now booming and we want to maintain that momentum by bringing possible investments here. With Iloilo Business Week, we are presenting various business opportunities in this part of the region and helping our local economy recover from the effects of the pandemic." PCCI - Iloilo President Fulbert Woo stated.
PCCI has gathered more than 100 Ilonggo SMMEs to showcase their products for you to indulge and enjoy from August 24-28, 2022.
3. CHARTER WEEK COFFEE FESTIVAL
The coffee industry of Iloilo is booming and unstoppable. In line with the city charter anniversary celebration, Iloilo Coffee Fest is one of the most-awaited festivals in the City of Love this coming August 24-28, 2022.
Here is the updated schedule of activities for the Iloilo Coffee Festival 2022.
Coffee Fair, Coffee Trade Exhibit, Pinta Kape, Kitaay sa Kapehan, Istorya Kape and Hampang kape.
SM City Iloilo will host Pinta Kape and Kitaay sa Kapehan for Iloilo Coffee Festival on August 24 - 28, 2022 at North Point Event Center.
On Aug 27-28, Ilonggo bikers and biking enthusiasts can enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee from Iloilo’s best coffee shops at a discounted price from 7 am to 9 am at SM City Iloilo parking grounds.
There’s no better way to end a morning ride than a cup of coffee at the Iloilo Coffee Festival.

4. FIBER FASHION FAIR
The 15th Fiber Fashion Fair opens today at the North Point, SM City Iloilo. This event is brought to us by the Provincial Culture, Arts, History, and Tourism Office and SM City Iloilo.
It is a weeklong celebration that will feature an exhibit of handwoven fabrics, apparel, accessories, and the collection of top Ilonggo fashion designers in a series of fashion shows from August 22-28, 2022.
This event aims to preserve and promote Iloilo’s local weaving industry as a cultural heritage.
5. SM CITY ILOILO SALE
In connection to Iloilo City Charter Celebration, SM City Iloilo offers up to 35% at any SM Appliance Center from Aug. 22 - 28, 2022.
