Iloilo City public markets are set to get major revamping to create a clean, competitive, and more accessible hubs for the consumers.

This action could mean a significant advancement for local vendors as a medium to compete with the major businesses in the city; and to strengthen their source of living.
The preparations have started to transform these public facilities to beautiful spaces that will attract more consumers.
The City Hall has allotted funding of P395-million each for Jaro Big Market and La Paz Market, while P150-million budget for Arevalo district Public Market.
"Our public markets are being restored to allow the vendors to compete with the malls, and the convenience they give to the Ilonggos. We see enhanced economic activities for the vendors once the markets are renovated," Mayor Jerry Trenas said.
The Local Economic Enterprise Office (LEEO), headed by Maricel Mabaquiao, and Executive Assistant Simplicio Subaldo conducted a coordination meeting together with Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) Head Jeck Conlu, City Architect's Office Head Arch. Regina Gregorio, and representatives of F. Gurrea Construction discussing about the rehabilitation of Lapaz, Arevalo, and Jaro Big Market and its traffic management plan during the construction period.
Consultative meeting was also conducted joined by Mabaquiao, with Market In-Charge Thomas Raymund Hortillas, representatives from the City Engineer's Office and vendor association in preparation for the rehabilitation of Jaro Big Market.
Another consultative meeting was done with Arch. Gregorio, Arch. Jun Balinas, and President of Arevalo Public Market Vendors Association.
Mandurriao Public Market will also receive a budget of P100-million which will come from the funds of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) upon coordination of Congresswoman Julienne Baronda.
A temporary relocation area is targeted by the end of the first quarter of 2022.
Iloilo Terminal Market (popularly known as Super) and Central Market, both in City Proper, and the city slaughterhouse are being offered to prospective investors to be developed through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with technical assistance from PPP Center. /via Iloilo City PIO
