A total of 63,778 Ilonggos benefited from the Iloilo City Government's free medicine program, Maayo Med, during the first year of Mayor Raisa S. Treñas' administration.
Launched on
August 15, 2025, Maayo Med improves access to safe, quality, and effective
medicines through fully operational pharmacies in all 9 District Health Centers
and the City Health Office-Main.
According
to the Iloilo City Health Office (CHO), the program consistently served more
than 3,000 patients each month, reflecting sustained access to essential
medicines and improved utilization of primary healthcare services.
One of the
beneficiaries, Jocelyn Facto of Molo, who also receives assistance under the
PhilHealth YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program), shared how the program has eased
the financial burden of managing her diabetes.
“Ang
akonbulongsa diabetes, libre naguidya. Sang una, nagapangitapa’kokondiin ko
manghulam. Subong, pwede ko nainimakuha libre saatonmgasentro,” said Facto.
Beyond free
medicines, the city's Maayo Ilonggo program recorded 92,705 patient
consultations from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026, highlighting the continued
demand for accessible healthcare services.
The program
strengthens Iloilo City's healthcare system by providing quality, accessible,
and preventive health services through the city's district health centers. The
highest number of consultations was recorded in June 2026, with 13,369 patients
served.
Meanwhile,
1,819 Ilonggos benefited from the PhilHealth YAKAP Package during the same
period. The highest number of beneficiaries was recorded in October 2025 with
681 recipients, followed by January 2026 with 613, reflecting the city's
efforts to expand healthcare coverage and connect more residents to available
health benefits.
Through her
administration’s Rise-To-Action Framework under Rising Health and Social
Services pillar, Mayor Raisa has consistently emphasized that accessible
healthcare remains a key priority, with programs such as Maayo Med, Maayo
Ilonggo, and PhilHealth YAKAP ensuring that more Ilonggos receive essential
medicines, medical consultations, and financial protection for their health
