The Iloilo City Government broadened its education and literacy campaign with the launching of the EDU-GO Program today, September 16, 2026 at the City Hall Penthouse.
The initiative introduces a series of projects designed to strengthen reading, comprehension, and lifelong learning opportunities for children, youth, and adults across the city.
The program features seven key components:
- 𝐄𝐃𝐔-𝐆𝐎 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐨𝐝 for early childhood foundation
- 𝐄𝐃𝐔-𝐆𝐎 𝐔𝐩𝐨𝐝 to support learners with disabilities and those needing extra help
- 𝐄𝐃𝐔-𝐆𝐎 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐚 for reading, numeracy, and comprehension
- 𝐄𝐃𝐔-𝐆𝐎 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤 for out-of-school youth and adults seeking a second chance
- 𝐄𝐃𝐔-𝐆𝐎 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥-𝐮𝐩 for skills development
- 𝐄𝐃𝐔-𝐆𝐎 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲𝐚 to involve families and communities in the learning journey
- 𝐄𝐃𝐔-𝐆𝐎 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐧 to track learners’ needs and progress
In her message during the launch, Mayor Raisa S. Treñas stressed the importance of nurturing the love for reading early.
“When we inspire a child to read, we are not just opening a book, we are opening a world of possibilities. Because when we invest in our children’s learning today, we are investing in the future of Iloilo City,” she said.
The Project SABAT (Capacitating Implementers towards Strategic Actions for Better Accessibility of TAWAG Center in Iloilo City) was also launched, an extension project of West Visayas State University–College of Education, Division of Special Needs Education in partnership with the Iloilo City Government.
The project aims to expand the knowledge and strengthen the skills of child development teachers in serving children with special needs, while reinforcing partnerships among families, communities, and stakeholders to bring inclusive services closer to learners.
